Welcome to the Maryland VOAD

Maryland Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, membership based organization that serves as the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle—preparation, response and recovery —to help disaster survivors and their communities.

The Maryland VOAD (MD VOAD) is made up of faith-based, community-based, and other non-governmental organizations that have disaster response as part of their mission.  State, County, and Local government agencies participate in MD VOAD as partners.  MD VOAD meets quarterly to prepare and plan for a coordinate response when there is a need for disaster response efforts in the State of Maryland by non-governmental entities.

Disaster Agency Response Technology (DART)

Platform Launched for Maryland

Maryland VOAD, in coordination with National VOAD and its contractors, VisionLink and Sterling Volunteers, has launched the DART platform to facilitate and coodinate statewide volunteer and in-kind needs.  DART provides the following capabilities:

  • Volunteers are able to register on a statewide site, indicating their skill set and availability to support volunteer opportunities and have the ability to get a low-cost background check.
  • Volunteers are able to review volunteer opportunities listed on our website and express interest
  • MD VOAD staff are able to look across registered volunteers and alert them about applicable volunteer opportunities
  • Individuals and businesses are able to register and offer in-kind donations of goods and services
  • Agencies, with MD VOAD assistance, are able to post volunteer opportunities and in-kind needs.

If you need assistance with volunteering or volunteer opportunities, contact Terry Goodger at VolunteerManager@MarylandVOAD.org.  For assistance with in-kind needs or donations, contact Peter Tuths at DonationsManager@MarylandVOAD.org.  For general questions about the platform, you may contact Pastor Phillip Huber at Chairperson@MarylandVOAD.org or Bruce Morgenstern at Treasurer@MarylandVOAD.org.  Support for Terry's and Peter's time has been generously provided by Brethren Disaster Response and Lutheran Disaster Response.
